IDYLLWILD LIBRARY Presidents Book Club ~ Benjamin Harrison

2:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Event Details

Benjamin Harrison, our 23rd president, will be the subject of discussion. He was the grandson of our ninth president, William Henry Harrison, making them the only grandfather and grandson, thus far, who had served as president. His accomplishments include setting aside 13 million acres of forest reserves, establishing the Coast Guard  Academy, expanding the navy, and instituting the practice of displaying the American flag over schools and public buildings.

Join us as we read through the U. S. Presidents in order, and also learn more about our U. S. history. We meet every other month on the even months, 4th Wednesday, with December being an alternate date to be determined (holiday conflict). You may read any material you like. We order a small selection of books for you to choose from. You may also go to internet sites such as whitehouse.gov, or the presidential library site for the particular president we discuss.
